Biography

Ali Mohaghegh is a PhD student at the Department of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Kansas. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Middle East Technical University, Turkey, and a Master of Engineering in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Kansas. With a few years of experience in the industry, Ali has worked for aerospace companies, where he has gained invaluable knowledge and expertise in Flight Sciences, Aircraft Performance, Propulsion, and Aerodynamics. He was awarded the second-best proposed gas turbine engine design to be used on Concorde aircraft in the 2021 AIAA Design Competition. Ali joined the Computational AeroPropulsion Laboratory (CAPL) research group on Feb 2023 to focus on the Reduced-Order Modeling (ROM) of complex fluid flow problems. He conducts research in computational fluid dynamics and reduced-order modeling for complex aerospace and propulsion systems. His work focuses on developing efficient, adaptive computational methods for high-speed and reacting flows, including rotating detonation engines. He has published research in areas spanning scientific computing, model reduction, and machine learning for aerospace applications. In his free time, he plays volleyball and enjoys hiking.
